Software as a Service (SaaS) is one of the most important trends in the IT. Analysts of Gartner expect, that until 2011 about 25 percent of the worldwide revenue with software will be generated by using SaaS.

SaaS is also called software for rent. This software allows the user to get access to the system from all over the world, mostly by using an internet browser. Especially the medium-sized businesses benefit from SaaS:

• less effort of investion and maintenance - the procurement of hardware and/or updates become no longer necessary
• the monthly total costs for the software or the "pay per use"-model are much cheaper related to the software licences
• the software can be accessed from all over the world
• the solutions are ready for use
